How to Adopt a Puppy
We suggest you begin this process at least 6-12 months in advance of wanting to bring your puppy home.
1) Apply online
The first step in securing your dream puppy is filling out the Puppy Application! Applying does not guarantee you will be approved, nor does it commit you to getting a puppy. It simply lets us know you’re interested and allows us to get to know you and what kind of puppy you’re dreaming of!
2) Wait for approval
You can expect an email from us within 3 business days after applying. We’ll ask some extra questions to get to know you better and find out what kind of puppy you’re looking for. If we feel like you’re a good fit for one of our puppies, we’ll let you know what your next steps are! We reserve the right to deny applications we feel are not a good fit.
3) Submit waitlist fee & contract
To secure your spot on the waiting list, you will need to submit a NON-REFUNDABLE $500 waitlist fee. Spots are ranked in order of waitlist fee submit date. You can see your spot on the waitlist on the Master Waitlist page. We accept Venmo or PayPal, and your fee will be applied toward the final puppy price. We also ask that you sign a contract when you join the waitlist, stating that you understand how our process works. Click the link below to review the contract.
4) Join a litter list
After a litter of puppies is born, the first families on the waitlist will be given the opportunity to join the litter list. If any of them choose to wait for a future litter, other families from the waitlist will have the chance to join the litter list. Each family has the chance to remain on the waitlist as long as they need to (within reason) in order to find the right fit.
*Please note that the opportunity to join a litter list may not happen for months. Everything is dependent on timing of heat cycles, successful mating, healthy pregnancies and litter size.*
5) Prepare for your puppy
Once you have joined a litter list, it’s time to begin puppy preparations! This includes buying supplies, thinking about names, and puppy-proofing your home, but also reading over our purchase contract, getting education on training a puppy, and finding a good vet. We give you all of this information on a private webpage after you join a litter list. You will also receive weekly email updates on the puppies as well as access to a private photo album of pictures and videos of your puppy growing up!
6) Read & watch puppy evaluations
Puppies are evaluated by us at 7 weeks of age. Every family on the litter list will receive an evaluation video and scorecard of each puppy, as well as a helpful guide to puppy placement. This allows you to choose the puppy that is the right fit for your family and lifestyle and gives the puppy the best shot at a happy life.
7) Choose your puppy
Every family on the litter list will have a 30-minute spot on Adoption Day to choose their puppy, scheduled in order by their rank on the list. This is why it is important to read and watch all of the puppy evaluations. When it’s your turn to pick from the available puppies, you’ll know which one is more energetic and which one needs a little more love and you can make the best choice. Of course, we will also be right there to offer advice as needed.
8) Take your puppy home!
This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! After you’ve made your selection, there’s nothing left to do but pay and go home with your new family member. Your puppy will go home with a fun gift bag, a vet health certificate and all of the paperwork your own vet will need to see.
